If you haven't heard about or seen wake surfing before, that wouldn't be unusual. It is a relatively new water sport and is becoming more popular all the time. It is relatively safe and loads of fun. Any age person can learn, the only requirement is that you must have the right kind of boat. You must only attempt to wake surf behind a stern drive boat, never using an outboard or inboard-outboard boat. The prop must be located well inward from the stern of your boat. Basically you start with a short rope and the proper board, once up you locate yourself on the wave and throw the rope in. The boat speed is very low to make the largest possible wake, sometime using rear weight to enhance the wake. Take a look at the photo gallery for pictures of wake surfing.
